Barrick stands for victims’ rights and law enforcement

Channel Islands-- Ventura County District Attorney candidate John Barrick, a Senior Deputy District Attorney at the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, met and engaged the public with straight talk about keeping Ventura County safe during his visit to Mrs. Olson’s Coffee Hut Saturday, February 5.

THE event was a fundraiser for his campaign set to the backdrop of a party at Mrs. Olson’s. Barrick was invited by owner Matt Brimigion, the President of the BRAVE Coalition.

Barrick said he’s getting signatures to be on the ballot, which closed Wednesday, February 9.

“February 14 is when we pick up our paperwork, and then we fill that out and submit it to be on the ballot,” he said.

Barrick said he has a simple platform that supports victims’ rights and law enforcement.

“I’ve been a prosecutor in Ventura County for 17 years, and I am from the county,” he said. “I grew up in Oxnard. In fact, this county hasn’t had a district attorney who grew up here in decades.”

 

As a Deputy District Attorney, he said he never worried about being the District Attorney.
