Oxnard—The City Council, on July 30, passed its E-Bike Ordinance, adding Article 30 to Chapter 7 regarding motorized conveyances, E-Bikes, and similar devices.
THE motion was amended to complete a first-time violation and dismiss any fines and penalties.
City Manager Alex Nguyen will add an E-Bike Safety Course.
There was a change that gives someone 30 business days to take and complete a mandatory education program.
The conversation continued, with City Manager Alex Nguyen saying that the young person and their family will enroll in the next available class.
“Set the requirement for enrolling in the next available class,” he said. “Based on that, then they have to show they’ve taken the class. Everybody was here at some point, and you do things your parents haven’t known you’ve done, and they have weekend jobs. It may not be convenient for them to schedule some time, and they may need until the next class. We should provide that in the program’s operation.”
Council Member Aaron Starr said people will be cited, but the class is the next day.
