Oxnard--It’s hard to believe, but I became the owner of the Tri County Sentry a year ago this week.
Honestly, it’s been an unbelievable year. I’ve worked harder than I have ever worked before and learned an amazing amount I had no clue about.
One way that I have changed is my sense of fiscal responsibility. As I have said before, owning a newspaper is not cheap, and I have made a lot of cutbacks in my budget to make it all work while paying all the bills. Now that J-Train encourages me to treat myself from time to time, and I did that this week. I bought a better television and my first video game console that I’ve owned since I bought an Intellivision in the 1980s, with a few games. My favorites are Pac-Man and Donkey Kong.
I have yet to use it, but I plan to play a lot on Thanksgiving. The change is how spending all this money has freaked me out. I’m sure Good Old Pop is looking down from heaven and laughing.
