Oxnard— At the risk of being someone who says Bah Humbug, I’m looking forward to the end of the Holiday season.
TO explain, for the second time in a month, I need to miss covering stories and try to round up my staff early to put the paper together early December 20th. This means there are things that won’t make the paper, which frustrates me a lot.
Don’t get me wrong; I still have some good stuff; I just need to get it all written tonight. Generally speaking, I write news articles over a 2-3 day span, allowing me time for review, then I turn them over to my proofreader.
This means I won’t be covering the Santa Float tour like I thought today, and I’ll be checking the paper while the Menorah is lit tomorrow night at the Oxnard Police Station.
I want people to have a Merry Christmas, but the rub for me is ensuring we have an excellent newspaper that people will enjoy after the kids enjoy their presents from Santa.
It’s not a sleep issue, as some claim, as I will write for 36 hours in one sitting. That is never the issue. The paper…
