Oxnard--I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday and got everything they hoped for this year.

THE J-Train got me a tablet! It was a glucose tablet out of my medicine cabinet, of course, but it’s the thought that counts.

Like usual, I ate way too much dinner, but I have difficulty controlling myself when the menu is jumbo shrimp and crabmeat salad. I customized dinner to low-calorie and carbo choices, no pasta, so I recovered quickly.

Have you noticed there were a bunch of let’s eat commercials until Christmas, followed by a bunch of let’s diet and exercise commercials across social media platforms starting that night? Don’t give in and eat healthy. If I can do it, anyone can.

I will tip my hat to Festivus and air a grievance that happened last weekend. I was at the grocery store, and while I was in the self-checkout area, the clerk announced to everyone that unless the crowd praised him to management electronically, they should get in one of the long lines.

He was laughing, so I guess he thought he was funny, but I didn’t share his sentiment. Then some guy came up and rated him on my register,…
