Oxnard-- Sometimes, I bypass the dishwasher, make a sink full of water, wash the dishes and think about things I see, do, and observe in life.
THIS started on Saturday afternoon while I was at the store. I saw the J-Train’s favorite cookies while wandering by, so I got her favorites, along with a pint of ice cream. I had them waiting for her with the television remote when she got home from work so she could binge-watch her favorite show and enjoy her treats.
The J-Train is a Mom, and I wanted to make sure she’s appropriately appreciated. A long time ago, The Sarge and The First Responder were a couple of kids who wanted to live with the J-Train and me. She took them in, no questions asked, and gave them a happy and safe home, while I was out running my restaurant(s) and paying child support.
Like any parent, she did things well and missed the mark a few times. Like the night I got home, and the J-Train told me the kids were pretending to be professional wrestlers, and when I went upstairs the following day, there was a hole in the bedroom wall. When…
