Frosted Thoughts

Oxnard-- It was 24 years ago this week that the J-Train and I got married, and over the past nearly quarter century, it’s been quite a ride full of highs and lows.

IT all started in 1997 when I was a fast-food manager, and she was a medical assistant. We spent our first day together talking over coffee, and shortly after that, we moved in together and became a blended family full of children.

Our children are grown now, and we proudly point to what fine upstanding men they’ve become. Meanwhile, the J-Train and I keep rolling along as my kids say we’re a pair of happy old raisins.

So, in 2023, we are an average married couple, including talking, laughing, venting, fighting, and ultimately being together and comfortable sharing our lives.

Are we perfect? Absolutely not. Those of you who know me know how challenging I can be, and when we fight, I express my feelings and don’t do well with clutter, ungroomed animals, and not trying to get as much done as possible.

The J-Train doesn’t appreciate my constant need to organize and clean things and get rid of things we don’t use, and she doesn’t like…
