Oxnard--I’m going to take a few minutes to talk about my oldest son Travis, who most of you know by his nickname, “The First Responder,” who will now be known as “The Paramedic.”
THIS is exceptional because it has not been an easy path for him since he has Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), which means he learns at a different pace.
Regardless, he set his sights on becoming a Paramedic and never gave up. He is the definition of persistence, which started when he was a child.
When he took his first steps, he was so excited and cried when he fell and hit my knee while wobbling back and forth, walking towards me, but he kept at it and never gave up.
He’s a born caregiver, and to give it some context, he was playing around one morning while I was asleep and knocked a lamp off my bookshelf headboard, which broke when it hit my head.
His favorite cartoon character was Tender Heart Bear from the Carebears television show, and he said, don’t worry, Dad, I’ll fix it, and yelled Carebears Stare, which solved every cartoon problem on the show.
