Oxnard-- The City Council, Tuesday, March 29, received an update about the city’s Annual 2021 General Plan and Housing Element Report.
THE report is required by the state and discusses the 2030 General Plan and its implementation progress. The report is provided to the Governor’s Office of Planning and research and the Department of Housing and Community Development.
Senior Planner Joe Pearson presented the report, and he said the General Plan progress report provides an annual review of the city’s general plan to assess its level of implementation and effectiveness of the general plan and a guide for orderly growth and development, preservation, the conservation of open space, natural resources and the efficient expenditure of public funds.
“The 2021 annual report looks at the progress towards the goals, policies, and programs of the 2013-2021 mid-cycle housing element, which guided the city for the 2021 calendar year,” he said. “The General Plan Parks Report also provides information regarding the city’s progress in meeting its share of regional housing needs.”
Local governments are required to keep their plans current and internally consistent.
