Ventura—The Board of Supervisors, Tuesday, October 20, heard an update from Kimberlee Albers, Homeless Solution Director in the County Executive’s Office, and she gave an update on the Ventura County Homelessness Plan.
The Board adopted the plan in September of 2023, and she said they’ve made significant progress in each action area and goal outlined in the Board letter.
“Progress reflects this Board’s commitment and the collaborative effort to reduce homelessness, improve public safety, protect public spaces and make data-driven decisions,” she said. “The key public partners are the Sheriff’s Office, Public Liaison Unit, the Homeless Liaison Unit, the Healthcare Agency Ambulatory Care, as well as Behavioral Health, Public Works, the County Executive Office, the Ventura County Continuum of Care, as well as others.”
She said the work also takes place alongside community-based partners like United Way.
She played a video that shows how they addressed homelessness across the communities.
The video opened with a backpack medicine event, and they went to Oxnard where Dr. Kaitlyn Ike where people were looking for services or asking for services.
“We see the needs of people who are unsheltered and don’t have access to regular care,” she said. “People need blood tests, need their medications refilled.”
She said they’re lucky…
