Nursery Agreement Approved

Oxnard—The Public Works & Transportation Committee, during its Tuesday, Dec. 10 meeting, approved an annual purchase order with Performance Nursery for the supply of plant material.

THE purchase order with Performance Nursery is from Dec. 18, 2024, until Dec. 17, 2029, and shall not exceed $500,000.

Special Districts Manager Anthony Miller presented the purchase order and said the Public Works Department oversees and manages parks, facilities, public rights of ways, landscape maintenance, community facilities, and waterway districts throughout Oxnard.

“There are designated services covered by the General Fund, Utilities, and Special Assessments where the maintenance of landscape is required for safety and aesthetic purposes,” he said. “Contractors perform minor plant replacement at the direction of City Staff, but for small projects or urgent requests, it’s often that the City Staff installs needed plant material.”

He said the Staff previously purchased and planted materials on a case-by-case basis, with individual purchase orders for each project and task to improve efficiency. To improve efficiency and greater flexibility, the Staff requests blanket purchase orders (BPOs) to procure plant materials.
