Oxnard Holistics approved by City Council

Oxnard-- The city council, Tuesday, February 15, overturned the Planning Commission’s rejection of a special use permit for TD Enterprises, dba (doing business as) Oxnard Holistics to operate a retail cannabis business at 1015 Harbor Boulevard.

THE public hearing drew a large crowd of people calling in passionately, expressing their views on the project, and there were plenty of questions from the council.

Councilman Bert Perello said he’d received many com­ments expressing concern about the proposed location from residents inside and outside District 1, where the location would be located.

“The majority of these communications were in opposition to the dispensary,” he said. “Written communications that I have received have been forwarded to city staff and are part of the record in the case.”

Council Members Gabe Teran, Vianey Lopez, Gabriela Basua, Oscar Madrigal, Mayor Pro Tem Bryan MacDonald, and Mayor John Zaragoza were contacted about the Oxnard Hoistics.

Planning & Environmental Services Manager Scott Kolwitz reviewed the item for the council, and he said the Planning Commission vote was tied 3-3, with one commissioner recusing himself. Since the vote could not be overcome, it was denied on due process grounds.
