Popsicles With Lopez Starts Election Season

Oxnard—If you were looking for a cool, sweet treat on Friday, July 17, College Park was the place to be, as Supervisor Vianey Lopez, along with Mayor Pro Tem Gabe Teran and Council Member Gabby Basua, gave away popsicles with assistants and took feedback about Oxnard.

AS the City enters election season, Basua and Teran sought feedback on issues important to Oxnard residents.

Lopez said it’s her version of sidewalk coffee, called Paletas in the Park.

“We’re going to rotate around the parks in the City I represent and feature special guests,” she said. “Today, I have Council Member Gabby Basua and Mayor Pro Tem Gabe Teran, and they’re here to connect with residents, answer questions, and get comments and feedback, which we have. Council Member Basua just heard from a resident who has concerns about a street in her neighborhood.”

Lopez said they just wrapped up the 2026-2027 County budget.

“We passed a $3.2 billion budget in June, and we are bracing for the Federal Impacts and the reduction in Funding that is going to affect our healthcare system,” she said. “The healthcare system is in trouble because we are going to see a reduction in funding over the next six years, and that…
