SEIU Agreement Okay’d

Ventura—The Board of Supervisors, on Tuesday, December 16, approved a memorandum agreement with the Ventura Employees Association, with an impact on the hiring system.

COUNTY Executive Officer, from the Human Resources Division Aviel presented the agreement, which he said will be adopted once the hearing completes.

The targeted market for each year is between 1.5- 3 percent paid over two years for any amount over 1 percent.

“This is based on the total compensation for each of the classifications,” he said. “This is covered by the union.“

Formal negotiations from the VEA began in September 2025, and after several bargaining sessions, the VEA and the County entered into a tentative bargaining agreement.

The VEA Membership ratified this contract on December 2,” he said. “As with SEIU, this is a comprehensive successor agreement with many changes, and it’s for three years, through December 16, 2028, with three general salary increases of 3.5 percent in each year of the contract, and there are target-based wage adjustments of three percent, payable for two years, for any amount over one percent, based on a concept study for the classifications by this union.”
