Oxnard—The 18th Annual Tamale Festival was an epic event of tasty proportions at Plaza Park, Saturday, December 6.

Roberto has been in business for over 30 years, running The Tamale Fiesta, which has received a lot of awards.
“This is a family recipe,” he said. “I’ve been involved for 10 years. This is a family tradition; everybody in my family does it. We’ve been doing it for generations, and it makes people happy.”
Roberto sells eight different types of tamales, but said the beef and chicken tamales are the favorites.
“We only make them mild,” he said. “We put the sauce on the side.”

Lueica was selling lots of macabre items and bread.

“We have cornbread, conchas, and cinnamon,” she said. “It’s fun to be outside, meet all the people, and have the community come together. It’s a tradition.”
