Oxnard-- The unofficial results in the Oxnard City Council District Six Special Election has Arthur Valenzuela Jr. with 364 votes and slightly ahead of Michaela Perez with 351 votes and Francine Castenon with 205 votes as of Tuesday, March 6.
Valenzuela received 39.57 percent of the vote, Perez received 38.15 percent, and Castenon received 22.28 percent of the vote. There were 920 votes cast.
Valenzuela received 861 votes at Vote Center 28 in the election. Perez received 327 votes by mail at Vote Center 24, and Castenon received 198 mail-in votes at Vote Center 7.
The winner will succeed District Five Supervisor and former Council Member Vianey Lopez, who was appointed to replace Supervisor Carmen Ramirez after her death on August 12, 2022. Lopez was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom on September 22, 2022, to fill the seat of Supervisor Carmen Ramirez.
In a message to the Tri County Sentry on March 7, Valenzuela said he was grateful for the support.
“I’m very proud of our team for all the hard work we accomplished together the past few months and reaching out to voters,” he said about the unofficial results.
