Baird honored by Council

Ventura—The City Council honored Stephen Baird with an award from the California Association of Public Information Officials on Tuesday, June 24.

“Crisis communications management is the strategic process of planning for, responding to, and recovering from a crisis to protect an organization’s reputation and minimize negative impacts. It involves developing communication strategies, establishing effective communication channels, and crafting key messages to ensure that timely and accurate information is shared with stakeholders during a crisis.”

Baird received his honor for excellence in Crisis Communications.

Baird thanked the Council and said he works down the road at Las Vergennes Municipal Water District in their Municipal Affairs Department.

“I serve as Vice President of Awards for the California Association of Public Information Officials,” he said. “We’re a professional organization throughout the State of California dedicated to elevating public communicators. All communicators in the public space, whether it be from the County, Cities, or Special Districts, like me, it’s a wide gamut of public communication officials.”

He said they elevate people through a myriad of programs, including a mentorship program, and they support accreditation and public relations.
