Camarillo-- The city council, Wednesday, February 9, adopted a resolution approving the Mitigated Negative Resolution Declaration (MND) 2020-11.
The council also approved General Plan Amendment (GPA) 2020-2, which changed the southwest corner of Skyway Drive and Airport Way’s land-use designation of the 3.29-acre site from Quasi-Public to industrial, and changed the zoning from Rural Exclusive Residential to Light Manufacturing.
The planning commission voted unanimously to approve the item on August 21, 2021, to bring it to the city council.
Principal Planner Jackie Lee said the project is located at Skyway Drive and Airport Way, North of Pleasant Valley Road, and is owned by the Oxnard Union High School District, which declared the property surplus.
“The surrounding land uses include agricultural fields on unincorporated county land on Pleasant Valley Road to the south,” she said. “It includes the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District Workshop buildings to the west, Frontier High School to the north, and Ace Charter High School across Airport Way to the east.”
She said the site currently contains the Skyway Playhouse, office buildings, a parking lot, a sports court, and the former Camarillo Airport Water Tower.
