Oxnard—Durley Park was a whirlwind of great activity on Saturday, February 1, as the Ventura County Humane Society’s Cares Program provided free vaccinations for pets of low-income families.
THE park was filled with dogs and cats ready for love and great care.
The Humane Society of Ventura County (HSVC) was founded in 1932 by a group of dedicated animal lovers. After years of struggling with an overflow of animals in need and not enough space to house them, our beloved benefactor, Sara Bayless, bought and donated the beautiful 4.4-acre property that our Shelter has called home since 1982.
Dr. Christina Sisk is a Ventura County Humane Society Veterinarian and said they’ve had their low-income shot program in the community for years.
“We recently had a mobile unit donated to us by a very generous benefactor, so in addition to vaccines, we’re providing spay and neuter services free to low-income people in these communities.”

Pet overpopulation is a huge problem in Ventura County, and she said that bringing access to care is part of the solution.
