Ventura-- The First Night of Chanukah was special in Ventura, Sunday, November 28, as Chabad of Ventura lit up downtown with a celebration that included lots of music from Cedars of Lebanon, fresh donuts and Chanuka kits, dancing, and a big celebration that culminated with the lighting of the Grand Menorah.
THE festivities got all of Downtown Ventura dancing, singing, celebrating, and joining in all the fun. Rabbi Yakov Latowicz founded Chabad of Ventura in 1987 and said the world has been under a cloud of darkness for the last two years. 
“It’s time for a little light and hope,” he said. “We thought this would be a wonderful way to celebrate coming out, Jews and Gentiles, of the community, all older people, younger people, women, children, and adults to celebrate the Festival of Light.”
The Rabbi said the event is a perfect celebration for Downtown Ventura.
