Oxnard—During his Tuesday, March 11 City Council meeting, Assistant City Manager Eric Sonstegard smended its bylaws.
In Nov. 2018, he said the City Council adopted resolution 29, establishing the Finance & Governance, Public Works & Transportation, Public Safety Housing & Economic Development, and Community Services Committees.
“On December 9, 2019, you established its bylaws,” he said. “In Nov. 2020, voters adopted Measure M that established meetings of the Legislative Bodies at 5 p.m,” he said. The change made it difficult to hold five consecutive meetings on Tuesdays.”
He said they reduced the committees to three and noted that Capital Improvement Projects under $500,000 are exempt.
We need to identify the three Committees instead of the original five and operating public facilities operable under $500,000,” Sonstagard said.
Moving forward, he said Finance & Governance, Public Works & Transportation, Public Safety Housing & Economic Development, and Community Services Committees will start at 5 p.m., 6:45, and 8:30 p.m. and operate under Roberts’s Rules of Order for consistency.”
Following the presentation, Council Member Aaron Starr asked Project Sonstegard if he was working on the single audit report.
“It’s nearly complete, and I am in charge of the report,” he said.
