Oxnard-- The Oxnard Community Policing Team got into the Holiday spirit Monday, December 19, and hosted a Coffee & Gifts with a Cop event for the community at Starbucks on Rose Avenue and Gonzales Road.
THE event featured free hot chocolate for the public and had plenty of plushies, compliments of Pet Smart.
The event had no special prerequisite; the kids just picked their prize and cherished it.
Officer Juanita Suarez said Community Affairs Manager Officer Paul Carganilla made the event happen quickly.
“We are really good friends and good partners with Pet Smart, so I have to give all the credit to Paul,” Saurez said. “Paul was the one who decided to build this event today.”
With Christmas just around the corner, she said it’s a busy time for the department, and it’s nice to join such a friendly community activity.

“It’s nice to see the children take part and enjoy Christmas,” she said. “All the toys are very plush, cute, and very soft. I haven’t seen one kid come in here and would rather have something different. All the kids are attracted to plush toys; even the teenagers who came in wanted to take one with them.”
