Oxnard-- The Finance & Governance Committee, Tuesday, 26, approved the purchase of eight Batallion Chief Command Vehicles with Stonewall Bodies for Uplifting.
The action executes a purchase order totalling 869,632 and declares the intent of the City to be reimbursed for certain capital expenditures from the proceeds of indebtedness related to purchasing the vehicles.
Fire Chief Alex Hamilton presented the item to the committee and said in the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Budget, the City approved project 222202 to purchase and upfit eight Command Vehicles to replace four current command vehicles for Battalion Chiefs and increase the number of Command Vehicles for the Second Battalion.
The three Command Vehicles will be for Hamilton, the Assistant Chief, and one will be placed in reserve status.
Hamilton displayed a photo that occurred while the Battalion Chief responded to an incident.
“Fortunately, there were no significant injuries from that accident,” he said. “The vehicle was a total write-off.”
He noted that the Battalion Chief Vehicles serve as a mobile command post for any large-scale event in the City.
