Ventura—In his report to the Ventura City Council, City Manager Bill Ayub reminded residents about the free community academy, and for more information, visit cityofventura.ca.gov/CommunityAcedemy.
“The Community Academy is open to Ventura residents and business owners,” he said. The deadline to apply is Friday, July 4, 2025. It gives an inside look at local Policing, training, and engaging discussions with local Ventura Police Department personnel, and includes a ride-along.”
He said the classes begin this August.
“It’s a great opportunity for the community to see how the Police Department serves the public,” Ayub said. “Please visit our website to learn more about the Community Academy and apply.”
He honored Officer Jaime McClellan, the Council’s Sergeant at Arms, who has worked for the Ventura Police Department for 20 years and has 30 years of experience in Law Enforcement.
“He’s retiring, this is his last evening, and I wanted to recognize him,” Ayub said. “We wish you all the best.”
Mayor Dr. Jeanette Sanchez-Palacios added that the new bus books are available inside every bus and at several key locations around the County.
