Channel Islands-- The Concerts by the Sea series hosted a memorable concert Saturday, August 20, as Nautical Thrust delivered a rock-solid set of hits that had people dancing, singing, and enjoying songs that ruled the airwaves in the 70s and 80s.
THE crowd rocked out to hits from The Eagles, The
Doobie Brothers, Jackson Browne, Boz Scaggs, Chicago, and more.
After the show, singer and guitarist Jesse Thirey said his parents’ music collection exposed him to the music, and he loves the music from that era.
“I lived in San Francisco for a while, so I was soaking up all the 60s stuff,” he said. “I’ve been playing since I was 13, so oh my God, it’s been 20 years now.”
Once he heard the song “Long Train Running” by the Doobie Brothers, he knew he had found his music genre to play and perform.
“That song spoke to me, but there are so many songs, it’s hard to choose,” he said. “Also, Boz Scaggs had Silk Degrees. That whole album that’s got Lido, Lowdown, and other songs that are really awesome.”
He said people truly respond to the “Lido Shuffle” by Boz Scaggs.
