Day at the Park benefits Special Populations

Oxnard--Oxnard Beach Park was full of excitement and fun Saturday, August 13, as the Oxnard Special Populations (OSP) Day at the Park family enjoyed a great summer afternoon in the sun.

The Day at the Park was a fun afternoon of group and individual activities, arts, crafts, and board games for residents with special needs and who are physically challenged.

The group enjoyed lunch, and the Jolly Jumper and the City Corps Train gave rides to the Special Populations that loved the treat.

Rec Leader III Valerie Rodriguez is in charge of the Oxnard Special Populations, and she was thrilled to be at the Park with everyone.

“I want to include the Oxnard Special Populations in other City Recreational Events and bring more awareness to the community,” she said. “These events give the families of the Special needs community a way to come out, connect, and share resources. They can also share if they are having problems and have questions about something; they can ask other parents who have older participants in our program what they would do and what resources helped them along the way.”
