Oxnard —The Public Works & Transportation Committee, Tuesday, March 25, approved purchasing a Material Handler for the Del Norte Regional Recycling Center.
The agreement with the Quinn Company is for $548,756 to satisfy the purchase.
Environmental Resources Manager Eric Zetz presented the purchase and said the Environmental Resources Division operates the Del Norte Regional Recycling Center, a Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
“The MRF receives and processes residential, commercial, and industrial solid waste, recyclables, and organic waste within the City of Oxnard’s collection boundaries and from around Ventura County,” he said. “The Del Norte Facility is permitted to accept municipal solid waste, including refuse, recyclables, and organic waste materials.”
He said SB (Senate Bill) 1383, the Local Assistance Grant Program, under the Department of Resources and Recovery, CALRecycle, provides funding up to $519,396, the full amount, with no match required.
“The daily MRF operations rely heavily on using essential heavy equipment to process solid waste materials,” Zetz said. “A wheel loader is currently used to move solid waste materials for processing and transferring purposes.”
