DHGA Agreement Updated

Oxnard—During its Tuesday, Feb 10, Community Services, Public Safety, Housing & Development Committee meeting, the group unanimously approved its CDBG (Community Services Block Grant and in-lieu agreement for the Dolores Huerta Apartments (DHG), a 58-unit affordable rental project at 2161 Etting Road.

The Dolores Huerta Apartments, known formerly as the Etting Road Apartments, and its developer, the Cabrillo Corporation, is a non-profit that provides permanent affordable units for rent and sale to low-income residents.

Interim Housing Director Brenda Lopez said DHG will provide 42 farmworker families and Veterans with housing between 30-50 percent of Ventura County’s Median Income.

“CEDG first approved DHG’s project site in Sept. 2015 and received a Design Improvement Review Permit on June 27, 2018,” she said. “On July 1, 2021, the DHG returned to the Planning Commission and received approval for a major modification to their Design Development Review and Density Bonus Permits to increase the units to 58.”

 

In Sept. 2022, construction financing was finalized, which began on May 13, 2023, and is estimated to be completed on May 13, 2023.
