Digestor cleaning Approved

Oxnard—The Public Works and Transportation Committee, on Tuesday, October 14, unanimously approved its agreement with Synagro-WWT and digester cleaning services.

Assistant Public Works Director Tim Beaman presented the agreement for $1.186 million in digestor cleaning services, with a one-year term from November 4, 2025, until November 3, 2026.

“Our Wastewater fa­ci­li­ty is a secondary treat­ment facility that uses anae­robic digestion for so­lid stabilization,” he said. “Three anaerobic digestors process sludge from primary and secondary treatment processes.”

In 2017, he said the Integrated Master Plan recommended that all three digestors be rehabilitated.

“Number two has been out of service for over 20 years and is active construction as part of the reliability project,” he said. “After digestor number two is back in service, we will rehabilitate digestors one and three, and part of that process is the cleaning.”

When Corollo Engineers were hired in April 2025, he said they were hired to complete the design and rehabilitation of digestors one and three.

“The interior assessment condition is part of the design process, and removal of all the digested biosolids and cleaning of each digestor is required to complete the condition assessment,” he said.
