Oxnard--The City Council unanimously approved the Downtown Oxnard Improvement Association (DOIA) Annual Workplan and Budget during its Tuesday, October 17 meeting.
COUNCIL Member Gabby Basua made the motion, which Council Member Oscar Madrigal seconded.
The Civil Sidewalks Committee will receive 52 percent of all the funding, approximately $311,000, and the District Identity Committee will receive 14 percent, about $85,700.
The Administration Committee will receive approximately 32 percent of all the revenue, equating to $194,461. The total for this year’s DOIA activities is $561,191.
Assistant Housing Director Albert Ramirez presented the work plan and said the Oxnard Downtown Management District (ODMD) was established in 2000 as a property-based improvement district.
“The district consists of 40 blocks, and the city is the largest property owner within the district,” he said. “In 2019, the ODMD became a public benefit non-profit corporation incorporated as the Downtown Oxnard Improvement Association. Since its inception, the district has been renewed four times and is currently authorized until December 2024.”

He said the City Council adopted a resolution approving the levy and collection of assessments against lots and parcels of real property within the district annually.
