Oxnard--The City Council upheld the Planning Commission’s approval of a Dunkin Donuts location at 2151 Gonzales Road, in the Palms Medical Plaza, during its Tuesday, October 3, meeting. ALMS Medical Plaza appealed the decision, citing concerns about parking and whether it would only serve people working in and around the location, along with concerns about shared parking.
The project is a major modification to a special use permit allowing the construction and conversion of approximately 1,400 square feet of tenant space within an existing credit union to make a donut/coffee shop and convert one of the two existing drive-thru lanes for Dunkin Donuts.
The project also requires reducing the required parking spaces from 151 to 129 spaces.
The Planning Commission denied the project in July, citing concerns about the adjacent medical offices, potential vehicle-pedestrian conflicts, and the drive-thru management plan.
The appellant filed an appeal 18 days later.
Planning Supervisor Jay Dobrowski said the project site is at 2151 Gonzales Road on the corner of East Gonzales Road and Outlet Center Drive.
