Oxnard—The City Council, on Tuesday, September 15, approved an EMS (Emergency Medical Services) WIOA 15 percent Funding Workforce Development Grant Application to the California Employment Development Department (EDD).
FIRE Chief Alex Hamilton presented the agreement and said the agreement authorizes the City Manager or designee to submit the grant applications to the California Employment Development Department to provide EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and Paramedic training to young adults in Ventura County.
He said the amount is $1.5 million, and no matching funds are required.
“The agreement authorizes the City Manager to execute all documents, including, but not limited to, applications, agreements, and amendments necessary to secure grant funds and implement the approved grant for the City,” he said. “It also authorized the Finance Director or designee to submit financial reports, grant claims, and approve budget appropriations for the use of grant funds, and approve all other financial actions.”
The agreement authorized the Fire Chief or designee to submit non-financial reports and administer programmatic requirements associated with the grant.
