Five residents appointed to CAGs

Oxnard--The City Council approved a group of volunteers who answered the call and will serve on the City’s Citizen Advisory Groups (CAGs), Tuesday, January 17.

Alice Sweetland will serve on the Senior Services Commission, Cynthia Gonzales will sit on the Community Relations Commission, the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission will welcome back Chris Hernandez, Renee Camper Stewart will serve on the Commission on Homelessness, and Vincent Stewart will be on the Planning Commission.

Project Manager Samantha Shapiro presented the video and said all the volunteers would serve from District 2 and were nominated by Council Member Gabe Teran.

“The Senior Services Commission analyzes, defines, and investigates issues and the needs of Senior Citizens in the City and advises the City Council on such matters,” Shapiro said. “They develop and recommend solutions for problems affecting Senior Citizens to the City Council and other appropriate organizations and disseminate information, educational materials, and reports that will assist and enhance the quality of life for Senior Citizens and the treatment of Senior Citizens.”

She said the Commission has seven members and must be a 50-year-old City resident at least.
