Gopher abatement contract moves forward

Oxnard-- The Public Works & Transportation Committee, Tuesday, February 8, approved an agreement with Pestmaster Services to provide gopher abatement services in the city.

The agreement begins on April 1 for one year and has an option to be extended twice, ending March 31, 2025.

The total contract amount for the agreement shall not exceed $375,000.

Assistant Public Works Director Steve Howlett presented the item to the committee, and he said the service will take place at multiple city properties.

“On October 11, 2021, the city issued a formal request for proposals (RFP) for gopher abatement services citywide,” he said. “The RFP was closed on November 4, 2021, and five vendors submitted bids, of which Pestmaster Services was selected as the most qualified to provide the gopher abatement services.”

He said the agreement includes monthly treatment at two wastewater facilities and all city parks.

“Including those parks within the special districts,” he said. “There are also provisions for treatments that are not identified in the monthly services should the need arise.
