Port Hueneme--At a special City Council meeting on February 23, the City Council adopted a resolution accepting $7.5 Million from the Statewide Development and Revitalization Grant to construct the Bubbling Springs Renewal Project.
The Council also discussed and voted on a temporary snack bar solution and will examine the item further on March 6.
Community Services and Recreation Programs Manager Anna Hanely said this award, ARPA allocations, and funding from two local dispensaries bring the renewal project to $9.2 Million. “In talking with the State Grant Office, accounting for an approximate 15 percent increase in project costs, given the time that has elapsed since the application submission, this was a consideration when reviewing our funding sources and project readiness,” she said. “The City’s commitment of the ARPA allocations was favorable in positioning our application or section, gives us the magnitude of the project scope.”
She said the SPP Grant mandates renovating funding at four Multi-Use Ballfields, expanding one Ballfield, and constructing a Ballfield lighting.
“Renovate Sports Plaza with concession, community room, a storage facility, and restroom building,” she said. “Construct two Multi-Use Soccer/Football fields with seating, fencing, and lighting.”
