James Vega appointed PH City Manager

Port Hueneme--The City Council, Monday, June 5, appointed James Vega as their new City Manager and also approved a four-year employment agreement.

Vega will start on July 17, and his annual salary will be $239,000 per year.

During public comments, Ojai City Council Member Rachel Lang said she couldn’t say enough positive things about James.

“We are, of course, heartbroken to see him go, but there is so much happening in your City, and I think you have a vibrant, thriving community,” Lang said. “I think James is going to be a welcome addition to that. I am so happy that he is going to a place where his gifts can shine.”

She appreciates how balan­ced he is and how he knows his way around a budget.

“He’s really good at understanding the big picture and overlooking the nitty gritty of the politics of the community in order to keep that big picture in mind and move the community forward,” she said. “I’m thrilled for him and sad for us.”
