Channel Islands-- It was a slice of classic Americana at Channel Islands Harbor on Tuesday, July 4, as the Annual Fourth of July Children’s Parade was pure Patriotism celebrated by Kids of all ages.
PARTICIPANTS gathered early, outfitted in Red, White, and Blue Clothing commemorating the day, along with Golf Carts decorated to celebrate Freedom.
The Parade featured lots of spectators waving, clapping, and celebrating the birth of the United States.
Co-Parade Marshal Dutch Dehaan knows Parade Coordinator Susan O’Brien, has been part of the effort for the last two years, and is honored to be Parade Marshal.
“We get to participate in a really fun community event,” Dehaan said. “I also represent the Channel Islands Maritime Museum; I’m a Trustee and try to be involved in Community events.”
His specialty is safety.
“I work with the folks and keep them safe during the Parade,” he said.

He loves speaking with the participants.
“I wish them a Happy Fourth, compliment their decorations, and compliment them on their kids,” he said. “I remind the people of a few safety items while we’re doing the Parade and remind them to be careful of everyone walking.”
His July 4 plans are simple…
