Mask Mandates return to County of Alameda

Oxnard-- In his Tuesday, June 7, report to the city council, Alex Nguyen said the County of Alameda started requiring masking in indoor public places again.

“We’re not quite out of this pandemic,” he said. “From our county’s public health department, vaccines are now available for children ages five and up.”

He shared a few photos from the Insect Festival and said there were arts and crafts and various vendors sharing, displaying, and allowing children and adults to hold various types of insects to the big crowd.

“It was pretty consistently packed for most of the six hours,” he said. “There was a costume contest in various age groups; the kids took that pretty seriously,”

Nguyen said the Insect Festival boils down to one word, wholesome, and noted that the testing panel smiled broadly until it was time to sample the insects.

“I want to thank the recreation and cultural and community services staff who did a stellar and magnificent job putting on this event,” he said. Mayor John Zaragoza said he got the chance to taste some tasty cricket tacos.
