Moving projects generate large debate

Oxnard—The conversation about Labor Shortages Supply Chain and Inflation issues hurting the City continues with City Manager Alex Nguyen saying Aaron Starr’s latest lawsuit will hurt the $30 Million Bond for construction plus $9 million for the ERP transition and freeze that money.

“This pretty much precludes us from getting any other bonds for Major Capital/Construction Projects in the future as well,” he said. “From that perspective, and there is some interesting irony in it with regard to the bonds for the road work, but the additional road work that our Staff has planned, and the Council has approved for across the City will not take place. Certainly, not occur in 2023.”

Mayor John Zaragoza said the City’s priorities, just like its Budget, is a roadmap they put together and because of major events around the World, high inflation, supply chain, and the hiring challenges hurting the City.

“You and I met the other day at the College, with St. John’s, and Clinicas, and they are all having a hard time hiring people,” he said to Nguyen. “I think Clinicas is going out of state to try and get people to come in and help us out.”
