Oxnard-- The Public Works & Transportation Committee Tuesday, December 13, approved the agreement for on-call traffic signal repair and maintenance services.
THE agreement authorizes Mayor John Zaragoza to execute agreement 32300058 with Taft Electric Company for $300,000 over a three-year term.
City Engineer Tatiana Arnout presented the agreement and said Oxnard has 175 signalized intersections and three staff positions to repair and maintain them. One staff position is vacant.
“This on-call contractor will supplement our staff capabilities with the ability to perform repairs that City staff does not have the capacity or time to get to,” she said. “In addition to that, we are lacking some of the repairs done at this time. This contractor will assist with that as well.”
She said the agreement includes emergency work, repair, and maintenance responses.
“You might have seen something similar come back in July, where we approved a similar agreement with the same contractor not to exceed $300,000,” she said. “The current Taft agreement, the one we executed back in July, has the following encumbrances. Historically, we spend about $100,000 per fiscal year on this repair and maintenance contract.”
