Channel Islands--The Oxnard Police Department continued its longstanding tradition of doing good deeds through community engagement Sunday, April 17, as department members brought their Autism Awareness Pop-Up Tent and sale to the entrance of the Channel Islands Farmers’ Market.
THE event featured Autism Awareness Patches from 2023 and 2022 and t-shirts emblazoned with new and old designs.
Oxnard Police Department Community Affairs Manager Paul Carganilla designed the 2023 Patch and said he didn’t want to stray from a Heart being a large part of the design.
“This year, we incorporated the Channel Islands that are on our regular patches with the Autism Acceptance Heart and used the colors from the Autism Society Logo,” he said.
Autism Society of Ventura County President Ashley Pope is proud to partner with the Oxnard Police Department.

“This is our fifth year, and it’s so wonderful to see more families than ever coming out,” she said. “Not only to support financially by buying the shirts and the Patches but asking questions to the Autism Society of Ventura County and the Oxnard Police Department, breaking down barriers and creating relationships that last.”
