Oxnard—The Oxnard Police Department has released its first podcast episode in a new series that aims to answer questions and provide information to Oxnard’s Spanish-speaking community members.
THE Oxnard Police Podcast was launched in July of this year. The first two episodes (in English) featured conversations with Police Chief Jason Benites about immigration enforcement and introduced listeners to the Oxnard P.D. Homeless Liaison Unit and its work.
The third installment is entirely in Spanish and features a Q&A-style conversation between Spanish-speaking community members and Oxnard Police Officers. They discuss topics such as immigration enforcement, DUI checkpoints, community policing, and more.
According to Oxnard Police Department Community Affairs Manager Paul Carganilla, “Our goal with the new podcast is to create a venue through which we can provide information to the public in a series of casual, informative conversations. We hope to demystify police work and increase transparency on a popular, publicly accessible platform.
We see a valuable opportunity to mix in conversations in Spanish that address issues that matter to our Spanish-speaking community.”
Topics of future episodes include: the Drone as a First Responder Program, Oxnard cold cases, the history of the Oxnard P.D. SWAT team, women leaders in law…
