Oxnard College will highlight the City’s future

Oxnard-- Mayor John Zaragoza’s State of the City Address with the West Ventura County Business Alliance continues with the building permit and community development team, which he said was busy.

“Last year, we saw an increase of 4,000 business inspections, with a total of 29,000 inspections, with 99 percent being provided the next day helping out,” he said. “Post-pandemic, we’re seeing more people come to our service center. Last year, our service center served 10,000 customers, an increase of 4,000 from the prior year; however, we still know we have a lot to do, and it’s going to be slow. Our commitment is to you, the business community, we’re going to continue to try and do better.”

He said the City Council approved funding for consultants to reduce the permit backlog, and they’re making significant progress, cutting the backlog by 65 percent.

“However, we know we’ve just started, and we’re committed to improving the system,” he said.

Zaragoza and the City Council is excited to see the development at Sakioka Business Park, with more than 2.8 million feet of land being developed.

“That includes the buil­ding of the 101 Logistics Cen­ter Area, which includes buildings totaling 750,000 square feet…
