Oxnard--Plaza Park hosted a tribute to those who paid the ultimate price for freedom Monday, May 29, as Oxnard’s Memorial Day Ceremony remembered and honored those who lost their lives defending the United States of America on the battlefield.
COMMUNITY Organizations across the City came out to pay tribute to the soldiers and ensure they are never forgotten.
Emcee Sal Gonzalez supports the Veterans unconditionally, especially the fallen heroes.
“They’ve given a lot for our Country, and we have people today, Mothers, Fathers, Brothers, and Sisters, who miss them,” he said. “We, as a community, also miss them. We pay our respects to them and the people left behind.”
He said the Featured Speaker, Top Gun Brad Conners, is “an amazing fellow” who spent almost 30 years in the Navy.
“He’s a real Top Gun,” Gonzales said. “You’ve seen the movie; we have a real one here today.”

The Oxnard Monday Club Ladies handed out programs and assisted Veterans who came out for the event. The Club started in 1903.
