Oxnard-- After a two-year absence, the Fifth Oxnard Jazz Festival returned September 9-11, broke through the storm clouds, and delivered great music to the fans.
THE crowd reveled in headline performers like Jeffrey Osborne and enjoyed music from Thee Travis Miller and Erin Stevenson, who brought the crowd to its feet.
Promoter Chuck Dennis said there is a pushback at all festivals right now.
“Our staff is operating at 100 percent, but folks who had Covid are staying home,” he said. “There are a ton of people who really want to get out.”
He canceled the Friday event because they didn’t have the infrastructure and deal with the rain.
“We had to move all our resources from Friday to Saturday because we had to set the park up,” he said. “Then we had to go extra to cover everything up, so we couldn’t handle both events. Next year, we will be back with the Women’s Expo.”
When he builds a lineup, Dennis bases his decisions on customer feedback.
