Oxnard-- Oxnard Recreation & Community Services celebrated its 75th Anniversary with a big party at Colonia Park Saturday, August 27, full of carnival games, Zumba and Pickleball, Arts & Crafts, dancers, cake, and more, culminating with Movie Night at the park.
THE event attracted a huge crowd that reveled in all the great activities designed to promote healthy and active lifestyles and camaraderie among Oxnard’s youth.
Community Services Director Terrel Harrison is excited to see the event go so smoothly.
“We did this as Cultural and Community Services, and we did with all the groups and volunteers we have here,” he said. “We have Agape in there; we have Eastside Little League in there. It wasn’t just our department. You have the Police Department and a lot of our health partners.”
While walking through the event, he saw things that remind him of his childhood.
“I’ve seen stuff from when I first started working here in 1987,” he said. “I think things have progressed since 1987. We had so many facilities that were poised to do some wonderful things in the future. The good things have stayed the same. Recreation has always been a group that has been here…
