Port Hueneme--The City Council approved a special-use permit for Beach Soccer Promotions LLC for the 2023 Beach Soccer Tournament Events.
Beach Soccer Promotions will use Hueneme Beach Park for soccer tournaments and host up to four Tournaments annually between April and July.
Assistant Planner Jose Coyotl said the Special Use permit begins April 1, 2023, and ends August 1, 2027.
“Some of these soccer tournaments have already been in operation from a previously existing special use permit since the summer season of June 2017,” he said.
He said the applicant’s request is similar in intensity, and up to 10 soccer fields will be proposed.
“The players range from ages 12-18 and will have five-a-side teams,” he said. “There will be 100 players on the fields, plus bench players, teams waiting to play, or leaving. At no time will there be more than 400 persons at each event.”
Coyotl said he anticipates three vendors providing services like food, general retail, or food trucks.
