Port Hueneme--The City Council received a report on the City’s Economic Development Plan and voted Monday, May 15, to discuss the item in more detail.
The item is designed to spark growth by Port Hueneme business, restart a Chamber of Commerce and develop a strategic Economic Development Plan using ARPA funds. The Staff will determine if ARPA funds can be used for economic recovery.
The City’s general plan has an economic development aspect, essential to Port Hueneme’s growth.
Community Development Manager Steve Kinney presented the item and said the City has been working on its economic development for the past 11 months.
“The element didn’t dive deeply into effective constructive economic development,” he said.”Mr. Stewart and I have been working on ways to try and flesh that out and bring some understanding about what the City’s challenges are in the economic development arena, propose ways those challenges can be met, and move forward to the goal of a prosperous community.”
He said the survey underway underscores the strengths and builds strategies individually.
