Oxnard-- The city council, Tuesday, December 21, approved project funds for the water cast-iron pipe replacement project at various locations and the storm drainage improvement project at Hueneme Road.
City Engineer Tatiana Arnaout presented the item and said the approval authorizes $3.64 million in project funds for the project and authorizes the mayor to execute agreement A-8404 with Toro Enterprises in the amount of $3.037 million for the project.
“There is a project contingency amount of $303,651 for this project and a project allocation of $303,651 for engineering, inspection, survey, and project management for the project,” she said.
She said the city’s cast-iron pipes across the city have reached the end of their useful life.
“Being 60-year-old castiron, we will be replacing that with PVC pipe in various locations throughout the city,” she said. “In addition to that, the scope of this work will include the improvement of the drainage system along Hueneme Road and J Street. We have some drainage issues that need to be corrected. This project will be addressing a lot of those in the area between J Street and Perkins Road.”
