Port Hueneme-- The city council approved an updated Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) during its May 16 meeting.
The Emergency Operations Plan provides structure and processes to respond to, and initially recover from, an emergency or disaster. It assigns responsibility to individuals or agencies to carry out specific actions, sets lines of authority, and identifies equipment, facilities, supplies, and other resources in the city. The update includes sample press releases so the city can get started quickly if an event occurs, a new and robust section, disabled access and functional needs and guidance, updated processes, and new forms.
Emergency Preparedness Manager Scott Matalon presented the item to the council, and he said the Emergency Operations Plan was last updated in 2013, and it’s been a long time coming.
“This has been a project over the last, at least, year, and it took all members of our organization,” he said. “The heads of each department and its directors have a very important role to play in this in our response to how we deal with emergencies and a whole variety of things that will happen in our city.”
